Digiknow
Few educators would deny the vast capacity of the Internet to inform, educate and entertain, but who would have guessed that this same digital resource would serve to actually enhance friendships, build peer and professional relationships, or offer real solutions to real problems in a remarkably personable way?
Digiknow is an effort to inform educators of the exciting tools available that are enriching the lives of their students, a generation already embracing an interactive online world. If teachers are concerned about how kids learn and know about the world, how they communicate with their peers, how they participate in social and political events, or simply what thay are doing for fun, they owe it to themselves to explore those same digital tools.
The approach of this wiki is from a "glass half full" perspective. There is no end of "glass half empty" detractors and naysayers, ready to offer warnings and condemnations. Of course it would be naive and irresponsible to ignore the darker side of cyberspace, and this site will try to provide information and resources to address them. But we are looking at an emerging reality that will happen with or without us. So I encourage you to explore the information and tools discussed here for your own enrichment and have a say in where it goes.
